How Idavang Ensured Nationwide Sobriety Control Without Additional Staff in the Agriculture Industry
Until 2019, sobriety checks at Idavang were conducted manually — security staff visited sites on certain days to perform tests using handheld breathalyzers. This approach was inefficient, labor-intensive, and highly dependent on human interpretation. As the company sought to optimize operations and reduce the need for physical security, it became clear that an automated, autonomous, and objective solution was necessary.
Worksober was selected as the company’s first fully automated sobriety testing system for several key reasons:
- The ability to completely eliminate manual checks and security personnel involvement.
- Autonomous operation – no supervision or on-site management required.
- Objectivity and reliability – results are recorded by the device, removing any human bias.
Currently, Idavang operates 12 stationary Worksober devices installed at entry points to its facilities. In addition, several in-vehicle breathalyzer units are being piloted in company trucks as part of extended testing.
The system functions on a randomized testing principle: each morning, employees log in, and a specific percentage are automatically selected for a sobriety test. Others simply register attendance. This approach maintains a strong level of prevention without unnecessary over-testing.
The introduction of Worksober immediately brought significant changes:
- Consistent and objective control – the system eliminated subjective interpretation and ensured fair testing across all locations.
- Reduced administrative workload – no need for extra personnel or manual data entry.
- Improved employee responsibility – while more violations were detected initially, the situation quickly stabilized, and now incidents are rare.
- Stable and reliable performance – the system operates smoothly without interruptions, ensuring continuous trust and dependability.
Today, Worksober has become a natural part of Idavang’s internal processes. Integrated into daily routines, new employees accept it as a standard part of starting their workday. The system no longer feels like a control mechanism — it’s simply a seamless element of a responsible workplace culture.
Idavang’s experience demonstrates that automated sobriety control can be effectively implemented even in agriculture, where early working hours and dispersed locations make supervision difficult. The Worksober solution has helped eliminate human error, increase safety, and maintain consistent prevention company-wide.
“The Worksober system helped us completely phase out manual sobriety checks. It’s an autonomous solution that requires no additional supervision and ensures reliable control. We’re satisfied with both the system’s performance and the quality of ongoing support.”
